After trying almost every single protein bar in the supermarket, these are our top picks

Up until last week, I had never tried a protein bar. After seeing my co workers whip out one every afternoon, I thought it was time to hop on the bandwagon. Eight protein bars later, it is safe to say, I was pleasantly surprised how decadent, tasty and dessert-like these bars were.

When you’re in need of a speedy on‐the‐go snack, pre‐workout energy hit or a feel‐good boost, protein bars are our fuel of choice. Here are the ones that pass the taste test and are sure to keep us far away from the vending machine when those 3pm hunger pangs hit.

(Side note: When compiling our expert food reviews, we take multiple factors into consideration such as the flavour, texture, value for money, ingredients and ease of cooking/preparation to provide you with our top picks.)

Are protein bars healthy?

Most bars are a great source of protein and carbs and also contain micronutrients like calcium, B vitamins, potassium, and iron. Look out for protein bars that contain natural sweeteners and ingredients as some bars can be high in sugar and artificial ingredients.
